Barbaree
Jernigan Lighthall was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Her family owned the town bakery and though her "clay" was the edible
kind she too was molding, shaping and decorating at an early age.
Barbaree and Lance visit family in NC often and spend time with friends
in the Catawba Valley and Seagrove, famous for their many generations
of folk art potters. Their deep appreciation of the traditions and
humor of these early families inspire their line of face jugs and
folk art pottery. Lance and Barbaree hope their pottery will encourage
people to learn more about the roots and cultures of American folk
art traditions, and share their regard for simple pleasures in an
increasingly complicated world.
Lance and
Barbaree were married in 1998 and "turn and burn" their pottery out
of the Potter's Studio in Berkeley, CA
