Lance Lance Lighthall is a second generation potter from the Big Sur area of California who fondly remembers going door to door as a child with his brothers and sisters selling his family's "weed pots," vases and mugs. As a teenager helping to support the family business he learned to throw, create glazes, prepare clay dug from the clay caves along the Pacific coast and fire a homemade kiln. Lance rekindled his interest in pottery in the 90's after retiring from business and raising seven children.

BarbareeBarbaree Jernigan Lighthall was born and raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Her family owned the town bakery and though her "clay" was the edible kind she too was molding, shaping and decorating at an early age. Barbaree and Lance visit family in NC often and spend time with friends in the Catawba Valley and Seagrove, famous for their many generations of folk art potters. Their deep appreciation of the traditions and humor of these early families inspire their line of face jugs and folk art pottery. Lance and Barbaree hope their pottery will encourage people to learn more about the roots and cultures of American folk art traditions, and share their regard for simple pleasures in an increasingly complicated world.
